Veteran actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan took to Twitter and applauded the efforts of the scientists of ISRO who had left no stone unturned to make Chandrayaan-2 a successful mission. On early Saturday morning, Chandrayaan-2's Vikram module lost communication to ISRO monitoring centra seconds before landing on the Lunar surface, during its final descent.

In a heartfelt tweet, the Kamal Haasan boosted the morale of the ISRO scientists. He said that the mission's setback does not tantamount to its failure. MNM chief Kamal Haasan added that in research and development, there will be a learning curve and that the nation and its people have full faith that India will soon be on the moon. He called it a precious learning moment:

PM Modi stands with the ISRO Team

As the nation stood united in showing solidarity to the ISRO team, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also took the opportunity to express his gratitude. PM Narendra Modi on Saturday spoke to the scientists and others officials at the station, moments after information about the loss of communication with the Vikram Lander was announced. Speaking at the ISRO monitoring centre at Bengaluru, he said that one obstruction cannot stop the flight of ISRO's success. He also consoled an emotional ISRO Chairman K Sivan, reassuring him with a warm hug and several pats on the back.

"To our scientists, I want to say, India is with you. You are exceptional professionals. You have given your best always and will give us several more in the future. True to your nation, you ventured to a place where no one has ever done before. "Aap log makhan pe lakir karne wale nahi, pathhar pe lakir karne waale hain". You came as close as you could. Stay steady and look ahead," the PM said.

Vikram Lander loses contact

Towards the final moments of the historic feat, just before it was about to land on the surface of the Moon, the mission suffered some technical glitches. As it stands, ISRO's Twitter handle stated that the centre lost communication at 3:00am IST. Speaking about the situation, ISRO Chairman K Sivan confirmed that the contact with Vikram lander was lost at about 2.1 kilometers above the Moon's surface and added that the ground station is analysing the data.
