Chhath Puja: Bihar Police finds unique way to catch cops' leave lies

Ahead of the Chhath Puja, the Bihar authorities have found a unique way to stop police officials from taking leaves in a casual manner. For Chhath, there are more holiday seekers and it becomes difficult for the officers to decide whom to leave and whom to not leave. As per reports, in such a situation, priority is given to those who are fasting themselves. Police officers of Samastipur were also facing similar problems. The authorities have found a solution that has become a matter of dispute. 

The cops in Samastipur have been asked to sign an oath letter stating that if they lie for taking leave from work, their family and children will fall into the pit of trouble immediately. The letter states that any officer who is not doing Chhath Vrat (Fast) and is asking for leave have to withdraw the leave application. The police officers had already written in their earlier leave application that they perform Chhath Vrat. Even after this, they had to fill the oath letter. The policemen have also been asked to write the number of years they have been performing Chhath Puja.

Chhath Puja 

Chhath Puja is one of the major festivals in India which is particularly celebrated in most parts of Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and also in some parts of Nepal. The festival starts in the month of Kartika on its sixth day. The festival lasts for four days and is dedicated to worshipping Sun (Surya Dev) for seeking his blessing and praying for keeping the family healthy and wealthy. This puja is dedicated to the Sun and his consort Usha and Pratusha (Chhathi Maiya) in order to thank them for bestowing the bounties of life on earth and to request the granting of certain wishes. The kind of prayer does not involve any idol worship.
