Chidambaram goes home after surfacing, ED & CBI teams follow

P Chidambaram surfaced at AICC headquarters on Wednesday evening after being underground and untraceable for almost 27 hours after the Delhi High Court refused

P Chidambaram surfaced at AICC headquarters on Wednesday evening after being underground and untraceable for almost 27 hours after the Delhi High Court refused to grant him anticipatory bail in the INX media case. After addressing the press, the former Minister was seen getting into his car and went to his Jor Bagh home. Shortly after Enforcement Directorate (ED) and CBI teams reached P Chidambaram's home, only to find the gate locked. After it proved to be unpliant for a significant amount of time, even as a large crowd gathered outside, agency officers were seen jumping over walls in a bid to enter his residence.

P Chidambaram addresses the press from AICC headquarters 

In an unprecedented move amid the CBI investigation in the INX Media case, former Finance Minister P Chidambaram addressed a news briefing at the Congress party headquarters in Delhi on Wednesday evening. Addressing the news briefing at the Congress headquarters, Chidambaram maintained that neither he, his son Karti or any other member of his family have been accused of any offence in the INX Media case. He further claimed that there is no charge sheet filed by either ED or CBI before a competent court in the INX Media case. During Chidambaram's press briefing at the Congress headquarters, senior party leaders including Kapil Sibbal, Ghulam Nabi Azad were also present, along with his lawyer Abhishek Manu Singhvi.

Chidambaram went missing after Delhi HC rejected his bail plea in INX Media case

On Tuesday, the Delhi High Court rejected Chidambaram's anticipatory bail plea in the INX media case. Shortly after the announcement of the Delhi DC, a team of CBI and the ED reached Chidambaram's Delhi residence on late Tuesday evening only to return empty-handed since the Congress leader was not at his home.

Chidambaram case: Developments of Wednesday

Earlier on Wednesday, the Supreme Court registrar said that the hearing in the INX Media case will take place on Friday. P Chidambaram's counsel on Wednesday appealed to the apex court for interim relief from the arrest of the Congress leader after Delhi High Court rejected his anticipatory bail plea in the INX Media case. Even after Chidambaram's counsel urged the Chief Justice of India for the urgent hearing of the case, the CJI referred the case to the registrar who then said that the hearing will be on Friday.
