As the death toll of children in the district of Muzaffarpur in Bihar rises above 100-mark and in the state goes up to 129, former Chief Minister of the state Rabri Devi has called it insensitivity of the NDA government and held the Nitish Kumar-led-government responsible for the deaths. She has questioned the silence of Nitish Kumar.

Taking to Twitter, the wife of RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav said that the death of the children is due to the negligence of the CM and due to his corrupt and insensitive system. She went on to say that in 14 years of Nitish Kumar's rule, every year there had been such deaths but there has not been any step to stop the epidemic. She added that neither has there been vaccination nor medicine for the disease.

("The NDA Government's gross negligence, unresponsive, insensitive and inhuman approach to the epidemic, the lax and corrupt practices, the irresponsible behaviour of the Health Minister and the corrupt practices of the health minister led to the fever and eventual deaths of more than 1000 innocent children of the poor. There has been murder.")

("For 14 years, they(Nitish Kumar- led government) have been ruling Bihar. Thousands of children die from the disease every year. However, there is no way of prevention, no proper vaccination. The entire budget for medicine and treatment is lost in scams. The ailing health department of Bihar is in the 'ICU' itself.")

Former CM Rabri Devi then said that the ministers in the state and the centre are now flying to Muzaffarpur after so many deaths. Though she has not named any of the Minister, she has referred to Union Minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey who was allegedly sleeping during the press briefing in about the Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) and also to the Bihar government health minister Mangal Pandey who had said that the deaths are result of excessive heat and sue to consumption of lychee.

Here's her tweet:

("There is a double engine government in Bihar. After so many deaths, is the Centre and the state ministers now going to Muzaffarpur with charter flights to dance? Why not take sick children from Air-Ambulance to Delhi?")

While excessive heat and humidity, hypoglycemia, eating litchis on an empty stomach have been cited as the reason behind so many deaths by the state government, the questions as to why the state or Centre failed to combat this illness remain unanswered.
