Cold weather conditions persisted in most parts of Punjab and Haryana on Sunday.

Cold weather conditions persisted in most parts of Punjab and Haryana on Sunday. Adampur in Punjab was the coldest place in both states as it registered its low at 2.3 degrees Celsius, an official of the Meteorological Department said.

Among other places in Punjab, Amritsar, Ludhiana and Patiala recorded their respective lows at 5.1, 5.1 and 5.5 degrees Celsius, two degrees below normal. Pathankot, Halwara, Bathinda, Faridkot and Gurdaspur recorded their respective lows at 6.5, 3.2, 3.6, 4.6 and 7.3 degrees Celsius.

The Union Territory of Chandigarh, the joint capital of Punjab and Haryana, witnessed cold weather at 7.1 degrees Celsius, one degree above normal.

In Haryana, Ambala, Hisar and Karnal recorded cold weather conditions at 5.2, 4.8 and 5.4 degrees Celsius respectively, up to three degrees below normal.

Minimum temperatures of Narnaul, Rohtak, Bhiwani and Sirsa settled at 4.5, 5.6, 6.8 and 6.2 degrees Celsius respectively.

A thick blanket of fog enveloped several places, including Ludhiana, Mohali, Patiala, Ambala and Chandigarh, causing reduced visibility.
