BJP's Haryana Minister Anil Vij, while taking a dig at the Congress party, said that the opposition party in the state is divided into groups. His comment came weeks after Congress' former Haryana unit chief Dr Ashok Tanwar's statement about how the party is now giving tickets to people who have just recently joined the party. Vij, while speaking about Tanwar’s statement on Wednesday, said, “Despite making efforts, all these groups cannot be merged into one.” Tanwar, in his statement, had also said that the people who have been working hard for the party for years are now being ignored.

'New people are getting tickets'

Tanwar’s statement had come in an address to the Congress workers protesting outside the residence of party president Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi. He had said, "I have worked hard for years. The people who joined the party 15 days ago are being given tickets by the party."

He had gone ahead and alleged that the ticket for Sohna assembly seat in Gurugram was "sold for Rs 5 crore." He had also said that the leadership in the state has now been destroyed. He had added, "We have remained dedicated to the party. Why do you have to give tickets to those who recently joined the party, but were critical of the party earlier."

BJP's offer to Tanwar

Tanwar, while speaking during the protest, also claimed that he was approached to join the BJP six times in the last three months, but that he turned down the offer as he is "not hungry of power." He said, "I had personal issues with Randeep Singh Surjewala but I set aside all those differences for the party's sake.”

On a related note, Haryana is all set to go to polls on October 21, sharing the day with Maharashtra polls. The results for both the states will be declared on October 24.
