Sharmistha Mukherjee, Congress spokesperson stated that the BJP inaction against the accused in the rape case has made it transparent that the BJP is standing with Chinmayananda. Mukherjee said that the BJP is not inclined to provide justice to the victim, who has come out in the open speaking about the details of the crime. Further calling this a matter of seriousness, Mukherjee asserted that inaction on part of the Government is disgraceful. Mukherjee added that this case would disappear just like the Unnao case did. Attacking the BJP Government, Mukherjee stated that PM is only busy with 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao.' movement. She alleged that of in the total budget allocated under the 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao' scheme, 40% has already been spent on marketing and only 19% has been allocated to states for distribution amongst the women in need. Earlier in the day, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also thrashed the BJP government and the police force in Uttar Pradesh over the Chinmayanand case. She stated that they were showcasing negligence on their part by protecting Swami Chinmayanand.
