COVID-19: 51,997 healthcare staff get vaccinated in Telangana

 A total of 51,997 healthcare workers were administered the COVID-19 vaccine in Telangana on Tuesday, officials said.

It was planned to vaccinate 73,673 healthcare personnel and the percentage of beneficiaries vaccinated was 71 percent, state Director of Public Health G Srinivasa Rao said in a bulletin on COVID-19 vaccination.

The inoculation program began on January 16 in the state and it was held in all the 33 districts for health workers in the government sector (both Central and state).

The cumulative number of beneficiaries vaccinated as on Tuesday was 69,625, the bulletin said.

The cumulative percentage vaccinated against the target was 74 percent.

The number of AEFI (adverse events following immunization) reported on Tuesday was 51 out of which three required hospitalizations and they were stable, the bulletin said.

Meanwhile, an official release said the Centre appreciated the state health department for successfully conducting the vaccination drive.

The Union Health Ministry appreciated the health department for carrying out the inoculation campaign without any errors or problems, the release said.
