'Credit goes to PM Modi, significant development in India's fight against corruption': Amit Shah on Vijay Mallya's extradition

The UK court on Monday ordered the extradition of liquor baron Vijay Mallya. who has been accused of defrauding Indian banks for a massive Rs 9000 crore. Moments after the court's verdict, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah took it to Twitter to credit PM Narendra Modi for Vijay Mallya's extradition stating that it was the PM who ensure that the agencies were 'unrelenting in their pursuit of the man who had bled Indian banks and fled'.

Earlier, Finance Minister and BJP leader Arun Jaitley had posted a tweet on after the Westminster Magistrates' Court's verdict on Vijay Mallya's extradition to India. Stating that the UK court's judgement is welcome in India, he called it a 'great day for India'.

Vijay Mallya was presented in front of the Westminster Magistrates' Court on Monday where the judge pronounced that he shall be extradited. Chief Magistrate Judge Emma Arbuthnot found prima facie a case against Mallya for fraud, conspiracy and money laundering.

In the aftermath of the court's judgment, CBI had also expressed its delight.

"We were confident while pursuing the extradition process. We hope to bring him soon as that the case against him concludes. CBI has its own inherent strength. We worked hard on the case and we are strong on law and facts," CBI spokesperson said.
