Cricketer Mithun Manhas grateful to Indian Army for taking care of grandparents in J&K. Here's what he said

Former batsman Mithun Manhas has expressed his gratitude to the Indian Army for checking on his aged grandparents living in Jammu and Kashmir. Taking to the micro-blogging platform Twitter, he said that he had received news that they were doing fine. 

"My grandparents live in Bhaderwah, J&K , they are quite old. Just got the news that they are doing fine. Would like to thank the Indian Army for taking care of the medical needs and visiting them on a regular basis!! Jai jawan!!

About Mithun Manhas

Manhas hails from Jammu. He led the Delhi team in the Ranji Trophy for several years before moving to Jammu and Kashmir. He played his last first class match in 2016. He was a middle order batsman and scored 9,714 runs at 45.82 with 27 tons and 49 fifties in 157 first class appearances in 20 years.

The 39-year-old also played for  represented Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Daredevils and Pune Warriors in the Indian Premier League (IPL)/He has been named the assistant coach of  Royal Challengers Bangalore

Peace in Jammu and Kashmir

The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday night said the situation in the state was peaceful and no untoward incident has been reported in last one week. "There has been no untoward incident barring minor stone-pelting which was dealt with on the spot and was nipped in the bud," Director General of Police Dilbagh Singh told PTI. The government also issued a statement, saying the DGP and Chief Secretary BVR Subrahmanyam have requested people not to believe fabricated and motivated news regarding incidents of firing in the Valley.
