Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Monday releases Rs 1,000 crore for relief and restoration works being undertaken in the areas affected by cyclone Gaja in the state.

The Chief Minister will distribute the financial assistance to farmers, coconut growers and others in person on Tuesday, November 20 the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) announced through his Twitter handle.

He also declared that his party members of the Rajya Sabha and Legislative Assembly will donate their one month's salary for the relief and rehabilitation works. The disaster has so far claimed 11 lives, apart from causing huge damage to properties.

Kerala government on Friday also announced to provide Rs 10 lakh to the kin of the people killed in the disaster, Rs 1 lakh to those injured severely and Rs 25,000 to the people who have suffered minor injuries.

Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) president M K Stalin on Monday, November 19 announced Rs 1 crore financial assistance and rehabilitation work in cyclone Gaja hit areas in eight districts of the state. Stalin also declared that his party members of the Rajya Sabha and legislative assembly will also donate their one month's salary for the relief and rehabilitation works.

Cyclone Gaja crossed Tamil Nadu and Puducherry coast between Nagapattinam and Vedaranniyam last week and unleashed mayhem in several districts of the state including Nagapattinam, Tiruvarur, and Thanjavur
