Esha Gupta has condemned the horrific Bandipora rape incident which has resulted in protests breaking out across the state over the last few days. Taking to Twitter, the actress has written that the death penalty isn't a severe enough punishment for the rapist and it is irrelevant if he is allegedly a minor.

The depraved incident in which a 3-year-old girl was allegedly raped in Sumbal area of Bandipora district occurred on May 8. Consequent to this, the Jammu and Kashmir Police constituted a special investigation team (SIT) to probe the case.
On Sunday, widespread protests were held in the Kashmir Valley demanding strict punishment for the accused. Protests continued in the Valley on Tuesday with the protestors also questioning Hurriyat leaders' silence on the issue.
Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik has expressed deep shock over the incident and directed the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir to work swiftly in the case and ensure that the culprit gets exemplary punishment for this shameful act.
