DK Shivakumar asks his supporters to not visit him in New Delhi

Arrested Karnataka Congress MLA, DK Shivakumar has appealed to his supporters to not visit him in New Delhi. The appeal was made by him and his brother.

Arrested Karnataka Congress MLA, DK Shivakumar has appealed to his supporters to not visit him in New Delhi. The appeal by DK Shivakumar has come after a large number of his supporters barged into the court during his hearing in connection with a money laundering case.

DK Shivakumar and his brother, DK Suresh, have released a press release asking their supporters to not come to Delhi on Tuesday. DK Shivakumar will most likely be produced before the Special Court in New Delhi dealing with cases related to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday. Shivakumar's custodial interrogation was extended for four days by the Delhi court on Friday. Shivakumar will now be in custody till September 17.

A press released by DK Suresh reads, " I request all party workers, supporters and well-wishers of Shri DK Shivakumar to not to come to New Delhi on Tuesday (17.09.2019). This request is on behalf of my brother DK Shivakumar too."

Inconvenience to the administration and judiciary

The press release by Shivakumar's brother also said that the arrival of more people in New Delhi will also cause an inconvenience to the administration and judiciary.

"As law-abiding citizens, it is our responsibility to maintain the smooth functioning of administrative and judicial systems. Therefore, we request and expect everyone's cooperation and support in this regard," DK Suresh said.

In custody since September 3

Congress MLA, DK Shivakumar has been in the ED custody since he was arrested on September 3. A large number of supporters had gathered outside the court when DK Shivakumar was produced before the court on the expiry of his 9-day custodial interrogation by the agency. Additional Police forces and CRPF had to be deployed to control the supporters of Shivakumar who had gathered outside the court.

A case of money laundering was registered against Shivakumar and Haumanthaiah (an employee at Karnataka Bhavan in New Delhi) by the ED, in New Delhi last year.
