Virat Kohli has been facing the flak on social media for asking an individual to leave the country if he doesn’t like his own country’s cricket team -- a matter that has become somewhat of a nation-wide debate. In this context, BJP MP Dr Subramanian Swamy has posted a tweet questioning the media for only targeting the Indian skipper for asking an individual, who enjoys watching foreign cricketers more than Indian cricketer, to migrate abroad. In the tweet, the senior BJP leader has defended the Indian cricket captain stating that 'when both have freedom of speech, then why is the media targeting only Kohli for his reply?'

A video of Virat Kohli replying to his fans, during a Q&A session for his official Virat Kohli Official App, went viral on social media on Tuesday. In the video, the Indian skipper read out the fan’s question (which was actually a judgment and opinion) to him which said, "Overrated batsman and personally I see nothing special in his batting. I enjoy watching English and Australian batsmen more than these Indians."

In response, Kohli pulled no punches, and said, "Okay, I don’t think you should live in India, then you should go and live somewhere else no. Why are you living in our country and loving other countries? But I don’t mind you not liking me, but I don’t think you should live in our country and like other things. Get your priorities right."

The debate and criticism of Kohli come at a time when he has crossed the 10,000-run mark in ODIs in record time for India, and continues to go from strength-to-strength in multiple formats of the game. An average of over 50 in all the formats, including a number of records, speaks volume for his talent.
