As India celebrates the festivities of Dussehra, multiple cricketers like Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir took to Twitter to extend wishes to their fans and followers on the festive occasion. On the auspicious occasion od Vijaydashmi, 'Master Blaster' Sachin Tendulkar wished his fans and followers for good health and happiness on the micro-blogging site.

Regarded as one of the most "destructive" batsmen of all time, Virender Sehwag also conveyed greetings to his followers on the auspicious occasion of Dussehra.

Former Indian cricketer and Member of Parliament, Gautam Gambhir also took to Twitter to wish everybody on the auspicious occasion of Dussehra. He also took the opportunity to sensitise people about the ending of the evil practices going on in society.

Significance of Dussehra
The festival of Dussehra is a very widely celebrated Hindu festival that marks the end of Navratri on the 10th day. Dussehra falls in the month of Ashvin or Kartik, according to the Hindu calendar. The festival celebrates goddess Durga's victory over the buffalo demon Mahishasura to restore and protect dharma. It also signifies the victory of good over evil. In the northern and western states, the festival is regarded as the end of Demon Ravana from the hands of Lord Rama.
Dussehra also marks the beginning of the preparations for the most important and widely celebrated Indian festival of Diwali. Diwali is celebrated twenty days after the Vijayadashami and marks the return of Lord Rama, Lord Laxmana, and Devi Sita to Ayodhya after completing 14 years in exile and killing King Ravana of Lanka.
