EAM S Jaishankar In Kathmandu For Bilateral Talks

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar arrived in Nepal on Wednesday to participate in the 5th Joint Commission Meeting between the two countries and to take stock of the entire gamut of the bilateral relationship. EAM Jaishankar, who flew in from Dhaka after a two-day visit to Bangladesh later arrived at Tribhuvan International Airport for the bilateral meet. Jaishankar was received by Nepal's Foreign Secretary Shankar Das Bairagi. In addition, Ambassador to India H E Nilamber Acharya and Indian Ambassador to Nepal Manjeev Singh Puri were also present to welcome him:

External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said that the bilateral meet will be chaired by Foreign Ministers of India and Nepal. The meeting was scheduled to take stock of the relations between the two countries on a larger scale.

The meeting between Dr Jaishankar and Nepal Prime Minister:

The External Affairs Minister of India Dr S. Jaishankar met Nepal Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli. He spoke about his in-depth conversation with Nepal Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli. The External Affairs Minister also asserted that the Nepal Prime Minister received him amid several preoccupations:

External Affairs Ministers's bilateral meeting agenda:

In addition, the External Affairs Minister also paid a courtesy call on the Prime Minister of Nepal K P Sharma Oli. The bilateral meeting will review the overall state of bilateral relations, and various areas of cooperation such as connectivity and economic partnership, trade and transit, power and water resources. Other topics of the meeting will include culture, education and other matters of mutual interest. Jaishankar will co-chair the meeting along with his Nepalese counterpart Pradeep Gyawali. Prior to his Nepal visit, the External Affairs Minister also visited Bangladesh and met Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
