Five civilians have been evacuated by security forces from the location of the encounter with terrorists that has been ongoing in North Kashmir's Hajin since Thursday morning.

The civilians had been taken hostage by the terrorists as they attempted to flee from the security forces who had zeroed in on their location following a cordon and search operation.

Of the two Lashkar-e-Toiba terrorists who had taken the civilians hostage, one has been neutralised.

The operation was jointly launched by the Army's 13 RR unit, the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the CRPF.

Earlier on Thursday, two policemen including a SHO had also been injured in a grenade attack by terrorists in Baramulla's Sopore.

During the course of the operation and the attack, the Pakistan Army also indulged in multiple ceasefire violations. It was given a befitting reply by Indian forces.
