Expelled Trinamool Congress MP Anupam Hazra joins BJP in presence Kailash Vijayvargiya

Expelled Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Anupam Hazra on Tuesday joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday.

Expelled Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Anupam Hazra on Tuesday joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday. Hazra had won the 2014 election from Bolpur in West Bengal. Hazra joined the BJP at the party's headquarters in the presence of Kailash Vijayvargiya.

The TMC leadership had expelled the Bolpur MP for anti-party activities on January 9.

Meanwhile, TMC supremo and West Bengal Chief Minister released its list for all 42 Lok Sabha constituency seats in West Bengal. The party has dropped 10 sitting MPs in this year's lineup. Out of the 42 candidates, three top Bengali actresses will be are contesting the Lok Sabha elections on TMC ticket from the state.

Besides announcing the candidates for the upcoming election, Mamata Banerjee also criticised the BJP and Narendra Modi, claiming that "VVIPs" were using helicopters and chartered flights to transport money and bribe voters.

Further attacking the BJP, she said the Lok Sabha polls will sound the "death knell" for Narendra Modi's party and bring end to his "reign of fear".

She said the electoral battle this year will be between a "united India and some isolated people".

"The BJP is trying to influence the Election Commission as if the constitutional body belongs to them only.

The EC belongs to every political party. They (the EC) should take action regarding advertisements of Narendra Modi being shown in various cinema halls. These should be removed immediately," she added.
