Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot visits families of Bundi bus accident victims, offers condolences

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, along with Parliamentary Affairs Minister Shanti Dhariwal, on Friday visited Kota to offer his condolences to the family members of 24 people who were killed in a bus accident in Bundi district.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, along with Parliamentary Affairs Minister Shanti Dhariwal, on Friday visited Kota to offer his condolences to the family members of 24 people who were killed in a bus accident in Bundi district.

A mini-bus carrying a wedding party had hurtled off a bridge on Kota-Dausa highway in Bundi on Wednesday morning, resulting in death of 24 people and injuries to five others.

Gehlot said the incident shook the entire state and the government was standing by the grieving families. Dhariwal announced that the compensation amount for the kin of the deceased has been increased from earlier Rs 2 lakh to 5 lakh.

The government has also announced to provide free education and hostel facilities up to college level to the children of the deceased, benefits of food security and social security (pension scheme). It also said a grant on the marriage of girls and the benefit of the Palanhar scholarship scheme will be accorded to the children of the victims.

Dhariwal said the Kota divisional commissioner has been asked to conduct an inquiry into the accident and submit a report within seven days. Later, the chief minister told reporters that necessary action will be taken after the report is received.
