Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh's tweet hailing ISRO over the successful launch of Chandrayaan-2 on Monday started a debate with mixed responses from social media users. In the tweet, Bhajji compared countries which have their flags on the moon, with the countries which bears the moons on their flags. In the first line, he shared the flags of Pakistan, Algeria, Turkey, Maldives, Mauritania, Tunisia, Libya, Malaysia and Azerbaijan while in the second line he shared flags of India, United States of America, China and Russia which have successfully placed their flags on the moon.

However, Shehla Rashid, who is the General Secretary of newly-former Jammu and Kashmir People’s Movement (JKPM) political party, chose to hit out at the Indian cricketer over his tweet. Rashid retweeted a social media comment shaming Harbhajan, saying that his tweet is in bad taste and shows Indians in a bad light. The Twitter user also called for BCCI to take against the veteran off-spinner calling his tweet "communal".

Further in response, activist Kavita Krishnan called Bhajji's tweet a "bigoted story" and posting Nepal's flag, also with the crescent moon on it.

She also retweeted a series of comments condemning Harbhajan Singh's tweet hailing India for its moon mission and trolling Pakistan among other eight countries which bears the moon sign on their flag.

This tweet by the 39-year-old retired cricketer has got a mixed response from social media as well. While there was a section of netizens who hailed Bhajji over his comments, there was another section appeared unhappy, calling him out for bigotry.

Meanwhile, in one of the most landmark moments for India’s space endeavours, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) successfully launched its second Lunar Mission, Chandrayaan-2 on Monday.
