HILARIOUS: Here's Chetan Bhagat Big Takeaway After Receiving An Award At IIM Ahmedabad

Written By Ankit Prasad | Mumbai | Published:

One of the most storied educational institutions in the country, the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-Ahmedabad), felicitated arguably its best-known alumnus on Tuesday.

The management institute conferred 'Young Alumni Achiever's Awards' on seven persons who once walked its hallowed corridors as students, and while Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor aren't on the list, all the recipients are, by all estimates, big-time achievers!

The magnificent seven includes the MD of Ben & Jerry's Ice cream, a Vice-Dean of Rutgers Business School, founder-CEOs of companies in the renewables and genetics spaces, and others, but the headliner of the list is none other than author Chetan Bhagat!

That Bhagat studied at IIT Delhi and IIM Ahmedabad is well known by readers of his two most famous books -- Five point someone and Two States: The Story of My Marriage -- the second of which is said to be closely based on his own life.

In one way or another, Chetan Bhagat has gone into his 'extra-curriculars' in some amount of detail in his writing, whether it be late-night Pink Floyd sessions on academic block terraces or co-ed hostel shenanigans at IIM. However, if ever Chetan Bhagat held any guilt over not adhering to the 'disciplined student' schtick, he's dropped it now!

Taking to Twitter to post about the award, Bhagat wrote, among other things, his big takeaway: Saari puraani shararatein maaf! (All old mischief forgiven!)

So there's a top tip from one of the country's best-selling authors who also happens to possess educational credentials on his CV that lakhs of 'young Indians want': 'If you were a naughty kid, achieve something phenomenal and then come back and lord it over your swotty peers!'
