"I have never heard of temple prasada being poisoned" said former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in a tweet addressing the issue

Former Chief Minister of Karnataka, Siddaramaiah has expressed his 'shock over the tragedy' where 12 people died and 80-90 people were found sick after eating temple food in Karnataka.

Calling this act 'inhuman' the former Chief Minister of Karnataka has proclaimed that 'high level of investigation' must be carried out over the incidence and has announced to bear the cost of the treatment.  This is in addition to the government's announcement of giving 5 lakh rupees to the families of the deceased.

There are two children, among the dead. 

As per police reports, around 70 people have been admitted to the hospital after eating the food in a temple, during a ceremony in Karnataka. Loved ones are anxiously waiting outside the ward of KR hospital in Mysuru where people are fighting sickness after consuming poisonous prasad. They are being treated at the hospital for severing respiratory distress, vomiting, and diarrhea. 

At the Maramma temple, in Karnataka, people felt sick after consuming the rice prasad. A devotee told that they were offered tomato rice and holy flavoured water.  

One devotee told the reporters that the offering was smelling and those who disposed of it were alright. While the ones who consumed it complained of stomach ache and vomiting.

As per reports, many crows have been found dead after eating the prasad, stirring the thought that the food was deliberately poisoned. The police have detained two men and are on a lookout for another 5 suspects.

The patients are admitted to government and private hospitals.
