IMD issues heavy rain forecast in parts of UP, Bihar and Gujarat

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a heavy rainfall forecast over isolated places in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Gujarat are likely to receive today.

On Friday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rainfall forecast, said that isolated places over Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Gujarat are likely to receive heavy rainfall. IMD also predicted heavy rainfall in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Punjab.

In its official All India Weather Warning Bulletin, IMD stated,  "Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely at isolated places over East Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Gujarat Region and heavy rainfall at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, West Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Saurashtra & Kutch and Konkan & Goa". It added, thunderstorm accompanied by lightning very likely to occur at isolated places over Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Sikkim, and Odisha.

IMD predicts heavy rainfall in other areas

Over the next four days, IMD has issued heavy rainfall warnings in other isolated parts of South, North and West regions of India. As per the agency, heavy to very heavy rainfall likely to occur in parts of Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat region, Meghalaya, Mizoram, West Bengal, and Kerala. Fisherman were advised not to venture out in these areas.

Pune floods the city, wall collapse incidences claim lives

A day earlier, Maharashtra district Pune witnessed incessant rains and waterlogging in large areas of the city. A team of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) was dispatched to conduct rescue operations in the city. Schools and colleges declared a holiday in the view of extremely heavy rainfall. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis expressed condolences and was deeply saddened by the loss of lives in Pune floods.

According to reports, at least 12 people were killed in various incidents of flooding and wall collapse. Nearly 10,500 people from several water-logged areas were shifted to safer places after the heavy showers in the district, officials reportedly said on Thursday.
