IMD's latest prediction: TN, Puducherry likely to receive heavy rain

On Tuesday, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted heavy rainfall in regions such as Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala, Rayalseema, Karaikal, Mahe, and Lakshadweep. It has also projected that certain areas in south interior Karnataka will receive heavy rain. As per the IMD’s All India Weather Warning Bulletin, the rainfall in these areas is likely to be accompanied by lightning.
High wind speed
The IMD also revealed information about the speed of the wind. While the squally wind with a speed of 50-60 km per hour is expected to prevail over the Gulf of Mannar, Comorin, Lakshadweep, Maldives, south Kerala and adjoining the southeast Arabian Sea, the gale winds having a speed of 190-200 km are likely to hover over the west-central Arabian Sea. As the weather near the sea is rough, the IMD has advised fishermen not to venture into the seas for the coming few days.

Cyclone Kyarr
As per the latest update issued by the IMD, the cyclone Kyarr is hovering over the west-central Arabian Sea. Currently, it lies east-southeast of Masirah, Oman. It has been predicted that the cyclone Kyarr will move towards the Gulf of Aden for three days. Furthermore, it is expected to weaken in the next six hours.

Low-pressure area
The IMD has also talked about a low-pressure area over the Equatorial Indian Ocean. It has revealed that the low-pressure area now lies over the Comorin area. Moreover, the prediction is that it will concentrate into a depression over the areas adjoining Lakshadweep and Maldives.
A Low pressure area over Equatorial Indian Ocean off south Sri Lanka coast now lies as a Well Marked Low Pressure Area over Comorin Area & Equatorial Indian Ocean. It will concentrate into a depression over southeast AS & adjoining Lakshadweep¬-Maldives areas in next 24 hrs.
