On the 5th International Yoga Day, Spiritual leader, Mystic and Founder of Isha Foundation, Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev conducted Yoga Sessions on Indian Navy Floating Dock in Port Blair. Yoga sessions were conducted in various clusters on 20th and 21st June 2019 at Birchgunj, Minnie Bay and INS Utkrosh.

According to a press release by Indian Navy, Vice Admiral Bimal Verma, AVSM, ADC, Commander-in-Chief, Andaman and Nicobar Command (ANC) along with senior officers, personnel and families of the Indian Army, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard will participate in the event. More than 800 personnel and their families are expected to participate.

During the visit Sadhguru felicitated the organ donors of the Command and also interacted with personnel and families of ANC. Discussions during the interaction covered a range of issues including personal and professional challenges that men and women in uniform face in the line of duty and also how yoga provides the much-needed balance and vigor that empowers the Armed Forces to perform at peak efficiency in times of peace and conflict.

Highlighting the importance of Yoga, the mystic said that the word Yoga itself means union and inclusiveness, to live a life in an inclusive manner. He also added that becoming a human being means the longing to expand and include. Yoga is only harnessing that innate longing in every human being to include everything.

"Andaman and Nicobar Islands are one of nation’s most desolate and vulnerable terrains. The effort of the military’s tri service command to guard the nation’s sovereignty is truly invaluable. It is paramount to equip these soldiers with yogic tools for transformation,"

Prime Minister Modi led the celebrations and performed various asanas at Prabhat Tara ground in Ranchi, Jharkhand. He was accompanied by over 40,000 Yoga enthusiasts, Jharkhand CM Raghubar Das and other BJP leaders.
