Independence Day speech: PM Modi says, 'Grew from $2 Trillion to $3 trillion in 5 years, $5 trillion economy should be the dream'
Prime Minister Narendra Modi once again asserted his government’s intent to make India into a 5 trillion dollar economy in his energetic Independence Day address. PM highlighted how the country had gone from 2 trillion dollar economy to 3 trillion dollar economy in his five years in charge, as compared to the economic growth of 2 trillion in 70 years before that.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi once again asserted his government’s intent to make India into a 5 trillion dollar economy in his energetic Independence Day address. PM highlighted how the country had gone from 2 trillion dollar economy to 3 trillion dollar economy in his five years in charge, as compared to the economic growth of 2 trillion in 70 years before that. PM Modi added how the economy growth improved the lifestyle of the people and increased the opportunities for them to achieve their dreams.
PM addressed the nation from the Red Fort on Thursday, where he said, “If 130 crore Indians move ahead with the smallest things the 5 trillion dollar economy can be achieved. Many find it challenging, but if don’t do the challenging tasks, how will the country progress."
PM Modi continued, "After 70 years of Independence, we had reached the 2 trillion dollar economy-mark, following the path of growth. But in five years from 2014-19, we have gone from 2 trillion to 3 trillion dollar economy; we have added 1 trillion. If in five years, we could show such a big jump as compared to the previous years, then we can become 5 trillion dollar economy in the next five years and that should be the dream of every Indian."
The Prime Minister continued, "When the economy grows, the facilities to improve the lifestyle of the people also increases. Moreover, the opportunities to fulfill the dreams of the smallest of people also grow.”
PM also said that the dream of the farmers’ income doubling or every citizen having their ‘pucca' houses, every home having electricity and optical fibre connection, broadband connectivity and long distance education reaching every village is their target after 75 years of Independence.
PM asserted that the blue economy should be strengthened and that those working in fishing industry should gain from it. He also stated that the farmer should become an exporter and the products of the farmer should makes waves abroad.
Stating that the strength of every district was on par with that of each country, PM added that we will have to make the country more export-oriented as it will also lead to employment.
