Indian Army Dog 'Jaari' recovers NDFB's hidden weapon cache in Assam

An Indian Army Tracker dog named 'Jaari' helped security agencies locate and recover a huge cache of arms, ammunition, and explosives, hidden by an insurgent organization belonging to the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB (S)) at Panbari Reserve Forest in Bodoland Territorial Area Districts (BTAD) in Assam. The operation was conducted on Tuesday, September 24.
The Search Operation
According to reports, the Indian Army launched a search operation in Panbari Reserve Forest, along with Assam Police and the Service Selection Board (SSB). This was based on specific inputs regarding the presence of a huge amount of arms and ammunition. Further reports suggested that the Army Canine Jaari led his handler and the search teams to the spot and started digging around in the area. During the search operation, the Army and Police personnel found the hidden cache of arms, ammunition, explosive and warlike stores.
It was reported that the items were subsequently seized by Chirang Police and taken to Panbari police station. According to reports, the success of the operation is a huge setback to NDFB (S) cadre. The actions of the Army will also ensure peace in BTAD and Assam especially. Further, reports stated that elections in BTAD are scheduled to be held early next year.

About NDFB
The National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) is an armed separatist group. The group wad formed in the late 1980s. The group's main objective is to obtain a sovereign state of 'Bodoland.' According to reports, its current Chairman is Ranjan Daimary. The group's original name was Bodo Security Force.
