Indian Army’s North Tech Symposium showcases cutting-edge technologies in Jammu

The symposium was organized by the Indian Army along with the Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers ( SIDM) and IIT Jammu.

The Indian Army has inaugurated a three-day North Tech Symposium in Jammu that will showcase the defence technologies and made-in-India defence equipment and weapons, the symposium commenced on Monday, 11th September 23.

Inaugurated by Lt. General MV Suchindra Kumar, the symposium is organised by the Indian Army along with the Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers (SIDM) and IIT Jammu. The symposium will also showcase future defence technologies that will be used by the Indian Army soon.

About the North Tech Symposium held in Jammu

The event is based on the theme ‘Atma Nirbhar Bharat Takniki Navikaran Ke Dwara Uttari Kaman Sainya Abhiyaan Chunautiyon Ka Nivaran’ (Self Reliant India Addressing Northern Command Military Operation Challenges through technological Renewal) as said by the Ministry of Defence in a release. The event invited a lot of brilliant minds and state-of-the-art defence technologies under one umbrella of HQ Northern Command in Udhampur.

The event saw active participation from nearly 180 defence companies including the MSMEs, DRDO, DPSU and Simulator development division. The interactive platform for knowledge diffusion through Joint Army-Industry participation. It was also aimed at propelling the government initiative of ‘Make In India’.

According to ANI, the symposium served to showcase cutting-edge technologies and innovative products providing solutions to some of the complex challenges faced by the security forces in the Northern Command. It also acted as an ideal platform for mutual exchanges of ideas between the defence industry and the Indian Army. The technologies and products on display covered a wide canvas, the prominent being, surveillance, situational awareness, tactical mobility, firepower, soldier protection, communications, combat medical facility, robotics, simulators, and training aids among others.

Lt Governor of the Union Territory of Ladakh Brigadier BD Mishra (Retd) the Lt Governor of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha, and General Anil Chauhan, CDS were present at the symposium. The symposium was a huge success and GOC-In-C Northern Command lauded the initiative and innovations for all the vendors. He also commended the spirit of the participants who showcased their technical equipment.

GOC-in-C Northern Command said that he was convinced by the Plethora of technologies available indigenously which can further boost the “Atma Nirbhar Bharat” project of the country. The symposium was a huge success and was just the beginning of indigenous defence production industries which will be the backbone of the country, a statement by the army said.
