IPL shocker: Woman molested during match between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Dare Devils at Wankhede

In a shocking incident, a woman was molested inside Wankhede premises in Mumbai on Saturday night during a match between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Dare Devils.The accused, 26, was arrested on spot and identified as Gendraj Satnami. The accused was produced before the local magistrate court on Sunday and sent to the police custody for two days.

The accused was reportedly working for a contractor at Wankhede Stadium. On the day of the incident, he allegedly passed some lewd comments at the girl after which thecops arrested him on Sunday and was produced before the court. The incident reportedly happened outside the stadium and inside the Wankhede premises.

Meanwhile, Republic TV has accessed the FIR copy lodged in the case. 

The incident comes at a time when the whole country is reeling with anger and disbelief at the Unnao and Kathua rape cases involving a 17-year-old and a 6-year-old girl respectively. Furthermore, the recent reports of an eleven-year-old girl being allegedly raped and killed in Gujarat's Surat has further added fuel to the raging fire. After five-hour long postmortem, it was revealed that the girl was raped and tortured for at least eight days before being strangled to death.

Last week has been a difficult week for the country as the sheer brutality inflicted on an innocent child (Kathua rape case) and the brazen attitude of those in power even after committing a crime (Unnao rape case) shook the conscience of the nation. While the common citizens took to the streets to demand justice for the daughters of the country, the celebrities also raised their voices to fight the cause of the victims. The massive outrage and the horror on the aftermath of the crimes forced the politicians, too, into mulling a law which would make death penalty for those who rape minors.
