ISIS Crackdown: Detainees had done a recce of RSS Delhi HQ, were influenced by Zakir Naik's teachings

In an operation to bust terror ISIS modules in Uttar Pradesh and Delhi, 10 arrests have been made in a joint-operation undertaken by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), the Anti-terrorism squad. The detainees have been known to be following Zakir Naik.

In an operation to bust an ISIS terror module in Uttar Pradesh and Delhi, 10 arrests have been made in a joint-operation undertaken by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the Anti-terrorism squad of the Uttar Pradesh police. The detainees allegedly conducted a recce of key locations, planned an attack on Republic Day, and are also believed to have been influenced by teachings of terror preacher Zakir Naik.  

In the raids, where around 100 personnel of the Special Cell were assisting the NIA, 100 ISIS flags were seized from Delhi, seven pistols, swords, grenade launchers and other materials have been recovered. 

Republic TV sources have confirmed that the detainees were known to watch Zakir Naik videos and a plot to carry out a terrorist attack on January 26 was also revealed.

In a large conspiracy, NIA sources also revealed to Republic TV that the detainees arrested from Delhi named- Azam, Anis, Zahid and Zuber were in touch with people from across the border and were communicating through messenger app Telegram. Hafiz Sohail, a self-radicalised teacher in Madarsa in Zafrabad is known to be the mastermind. Special cell and NIA have been working on them for the past six months. One suspect, Anism had stolen cash and gold worth Rs 5 lakh from home and bought weapons. However, his family never lodged a case.

The suspects did a recce of RSS headquarters of Delhi and Delhi police headquarters.

A confirmation from the NIA spokesperson has affirmed that the raids are in connection with the ISIS module called 'Harkat-ul-harb-e-Islam'. It is likely that massive arrests will take place, busting hideouts. For now, five arrests have been made in Uttar Pradesh in a collaborated operation between ATS and NIA
