Omar Abdullah-led National Conference has moved the Supreme Court challenging President's order on Article 370 revoking special status of Jammu and Kashmir.  The party sought a direction from the apex court to declare the Presidential Order relating to Article 370 as "unconstitutional, void and inoperative" in Jammu and Kashmir.and to declare Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019 as "unconstitutional". A petition has been filed in the top court on Article 370 by party leaders Mohd Akbar Lone and Hasnain Masoodi.

The President of India Ram Nath Kovind had provided his assent to the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Bill on Friday. He had given assent to the Abrogation of Article 370 on Thursday. This has resulted in the complete integration of the region with the rest of India and with it having laws and rights on par with other Indian citizens as per the Constitution.

PM Modi's speech on integration of Kashmir

PM Narendra Modi spoke at length about the Centre's move to revoke 370 and to restructure the region. He said that the status of Jammu and Kashmri as the Union Territory is temporary, but Ladakh's status was a permanent one. "We will free Jammu and Kashmir from terrorism. When this heaven on earth, Jammu and Kashmir, will surpass everyone in development, ease of living for citizens will be increased, then I don't think Jammu and Kashmir will need to remain under Centre's purview, but yes Ladakh will remain a Union Territory."
