When asked by a fan if he will move to the much-awaited "Guardians..." movie after winding up the supervillain film, Gunn replied, "I will not start Vol 3 until after Squad is finished editing, not filming."

In March, Disney reinstated Gunn as the director of the "Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol 3" almost a year after he was fired by the company over his old, offensive Twitter posts. The film has a 2020 release date.
