JNU Protest

The JNU students have hit the road and they are marching towards the Parliament for a rollback in their fee hike. This comes after the Jawaharlal Nehru University’s (JNU) administration announced a 50% concession in hostel fee rates for students belonging to the Below Poverty line (BPL).  The students argue that there is no definition of BPL in India thus demand the revocation of the hike. Section 144 has also been imposed on the JNU campus. Congress party’s Rajya Sabha MP, Ghulam Nabi Azad while speaking to Republic TV said he strong condemns the fee hike in the Jawaharlal Nehru University. Talking about the protest march towards Parliament, he also made a big statement saying that this (BJP) government is against education. He said increasing the fees of the institution by three times means that the central government does not want the poor people to study. He also urged the government to provide free higher education.
