'K Sivan Not On Twitter', ISRO Statement After Fake Accounts Spotted

After several social media accounts by the name of K Sivan have cropped up, ISRO clarifies that the ISRO Chief does not have any personal social media accounts

Amidst the Chandryaan-2 hype, social media accounts including Twitter under the name of ISRO Chairperson K Sivan had been doing rounds in popular usage. The pages purported to be the personal accounts of K Sivan. However, ISRO in a statement clarified that the ISRO Chief does not have any personal social media account.

Fake Accounts busted

From its official Twitter handle, ISRO made it abundantly clear that K Sivan did not actually have any social media accounts and those were all fan pages made by netizens. Thus implying that any ISRO related update on those accounts did not particularly mean that it was ratified by K Sivan.

The Tweet further went on to give the direct link of the ISRO government portal, which contained the statement, 

Regarding Social Media Accounts in the name of Kailasavadivoo Sivan, Chairman ISRO

It has been noted that social media accounts in the name of Kailasavadivoo Sivan (along with photographs of K. Sivan) is operational and active on social media platforms. This is to clarify that K. Sivan, Chairman, ISRO does not have any personal account on any social media platforms. Hence all the information on all such accounts are not authentic."

Furthermore, the statement also contained the official ISRO Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube links.

A few Twitter accounts by the name of 'K Sivan' had been active which released updates and information on the Chandrayaan-2 mission. All of them claimed that it was the account of the 'Chairperson of ISRO, K Sivan'

Vikram lander spotted by ISRO

ISRO Chairman K Sivan on Sunday announced that the team had spotted the location of Vikram Lander on the Lunar surface. He said that Chandrayaan 2's orbiter clicked a thermal image of the lander and as per ANI, ISRO is trying to establish communication with it. The ISRO chief also stated that Vikram's landing must have been a hard landing. This development came a day after minutes before the touchdown on the lunar surface, communication with the Vikram lander was lost on Saturday morning.
