Kejriwal compares Delhi health care to Bernie Sanders' 'Universal Healthcare plan'

Claiming that his Delhi government is far ahead of America, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday retweeted America's Democratic candidate Bernie Sanders tweet promising health care to all. Making a bizarre claim, Kejriwal said that promises amde by American politicians and parties ahead of their elections has already been fulfilled in the national capital during the past five years under his government. While Sanders, in his tweet, is referring to the single-payer health care system, Kejriwal is referring to his mohalla clinics and changes in public health care system.

Kejriwal's claim comes ahead of Delhi assembly election next year. In a bid to claim that the AAP government has transformed Delhi in last 5 years, Kejriwal, earlier in the day also said that Delhi gives maximum compensation to farmers. In 2015 assembly polls, AAP won 67 of the 70 seats.

Bernie Sanders healthcare plan

For the upcoming Presidential elections in USA, Democratic candidate Bernie Sanders has reintroduced his plan of a single-payer health care system, one where a single government-run plan provides insurance coverage to all Americans. The healthcare plan by Sanders envisions a future in which all Americans have health coverage and the state takes care of their healthcare needs. Known as, the Medicare for All Act, Sanders healthcare plan envisions that no American will pay anything from their pocket. Tweeting on the same lines, Sanders on Sunday said that their healthcare plan will eliminate all past-due medical debt and guarantee health care to all.

Arvind Kejriwal's Mohalla clinics

Soon after coming to power the Arvind Kejriwal led AAP government had promised 1,000 clinics, following a 49-day government in 2013-14. The Delhi government claims that it provides a four-tier health care delivery system, with Aam Aadmi Mohalla Clinics for primary health care, multi-speciality polyclinics for secondary health care in the form of OPD consultation by specialist doctors including diagnostics, multi-speciality Hospitals for IPD care and super-speciality hospitals.
