Delhi's Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has hailed Monday as a 'historic day' as the Kejriwal-led government has introduced a 'Happiness Curriculum' in government schools.

Taking to Twitter, Sisodia has shared details of the new curriculum which has been launched by the Dalai Lama. Sisodia added that the #HappinessCurriculum is to be introduced in all 1000+ government schools and 8 lakh+ students from Nursery to 8th grade.

Here's what Sisodia says the Happiness Curriculum is about, as per his Tweets:

"Daily mindfulness practice (meditation), gratitude, moral, value-based stories & activities to be part of each daily Happiness Class."

"It's going to be the most important development in education system with focus on 'Good mental health, character & resilience'. It will address the ever-growing concern - levels of happiness & well-being are decreasing, while stress, anxiety & depression are increasing."

"It’s about kids before curriculum. . .
Children's mental wellbeing is so vitally important. Happier children learn more, cope better and are much more likely to make the most of their potential"

"Happy kids show up more able to learn as they tend to sleep better, may have healthier immune systems. Happy kids learn faster, think more creatively, tend to be more resilient in the face of failures...have stronger relationships & make friends easily."

The Aam Aadmi Party, which had made education one of its primary focus areas, has been celebrating the performance of government school students in this year's board exams, often citing it to illustrate what the Delhi government can achieve without the alleged interference of the Delhi L-G.
