A group of kids in Kerala had a very innovative way to collect funds to buy a football. They held a ‘meeting’, almost like one of the political parties’ events on a stage. The innocence of the children, creativity and even their skills to grasp came across beautifully in the heartwarming video that is going viral.

The gathering is held on the ground that is surrounded by trees all throughout. The kids are seated on the coconut tree branches and some on the stones.  Some of the boys are dressed in football jerseys, one of them wearing the Indian Super League team Kerala Blasters FC’s jersey and others of European clubs like Arsenal and Juventus.

The kids have also set up a makeshift microphone stand from a coconut tree branch. The ‘President’ of the group then addresses, “Like he said about the fund-raiser. They are more people expected to come. We are proceeding for now.  And there will be meetings on every Sunday.”

He then invites ‘Appus’, to say a few words.  And they seem quite skilled in delivered speeches as the child says, “My greetings to all who have gathered. We all have gathered to collect funds to buy a football. So, my request is that everyone contributes Rs 10 for this. And this has to be deposited every Sunday.” And it’s not the guys, there is a girl too. She says, “Our football has burst and we have bought many balls in the past, but all of it have burst.”

And they are up-to-date with the times too in the digital age. They share that they will ordering it through Flipkart and that setting the arrangements for it would need some people too. Since consent is important, like every meeting of the adults, one of the guys comes and asks, “Does anyone have any objections to this?” And all the kids shout, “No.” An important suggestion is that the kids would have to sacrifice the money they’ll use to buy chocolates, because their ‘teeth will get spoilt.’ There is a tip for financial planning too, save two rupees each till Friday, then the 10 rupees will be collected.

Moreover, it is not just a meeting to buy a football, it is also a felicitation ceremony. The best goalkeeper is honoured and even presented a paper 'shawl'. When he takes to the microphone, another boy also adjusts its height accordingly. As the winner is nervous to speak, the ‘Secretary’ even asks the gathering to forgive him for his nervousness, and they should not laugh on him.

The events take place behind the house of the person recording the video. He makes all their efforts worth it, as he puts a Rs 500 note into the President’s pockets after asking them how much buying the football would cost. The video, posted by Sushanth Nilambur on Facebook on Wednesday, has already fetched 16.30 lakh views on Facebook. It also has received 59 thousand reactions and 7.3 K comments.
