Five new ambulances for Shi-Yomi and West Siang districts in Arunachal Pradesh were launched through video-conferencing by Union Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju. The minister launched the ambulances at an event held in Aalo town, headquarters of West Siang district on Thursday.

"The five ambulances flagged off for the remote Shi-Yomi and West Siang Districts. I'm grateful to (Petroleum Minister) @dpradhanbjp ji and @ONGC_ for coming forward with the big support for the needy patients in the border areas of Arunachal Pradesh," Rijiju, who hails from the border state, tweeted on Friday.

The minister was unable to attend the event in person due to bad weather conditions and travel restrictions that have been placed due to the coronavirus outbreak. Thanking ONGC and the Petroleum Ministry for its support, Rijiju complimented the move, saying while five ambulances may be a small thing in urban areas, it is massive for the districts of Arunachal Pradesh.

He also said this move will help the poor and needy people of Arunachal Pradesh as well as his parliamentary constituency. The minister said these ambulances are a huge boost to the local people as currently health sector needs huge improvement in the state. Rijiju also asked other PSUs to come forward for the development of Arunachal Pradesh.
