After the sad demise of renowned mathematician Vashishtha Narayan Singh, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav on Friday called out Bihar government led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for not providing a dignified treatment to Singh's mortal remains.

Taking to his official Twitter handle, Lalu Yadav called the Nitish Kumar led the state government to be insensitive, He wrote, " The manner in which the insensitive Nitish Kumar-led state government treated the body of Vashishtha Narayan Singh is condemnable. They could not even provide an ambulance to him?"

Adding further the former Bihar Chief Minister also questioned the Bihar CM that why did he not go see Vashishtha Narayan Singh when he was admitted to the hospital. In his statement, the RJD chief said, "During our tenure, I got him treated in the best hospital, gave a government job to his serving family members so that they could take good care of him in Patna. A great tribute and humble tribute to the great mathematician, the venerable Dr. Vasistha Babu."

Lalu Yadav questions Nitish Kumar

He further questioned whether Nitish Kumar met Vashishtha Narayan Singh when he was admitted to the hospital. "During our tenure, I got him treated in the best hospital," the former Bihar Chief Minister added.

The veteran mathematician's family alleged that the hospital authorities had kept them waiting for an ambulance to take Vashishtha Narayan Singh's body home. The hospital authorities, however, claimed that the delay was caused due to the non-completion of formalities.

The mathematician who had been ailing for quite some time died at the Patna Medical College and Hospital(PMCH) in Bihar on Thursday. Born on April 2, 1942, in Basantpur village of Bhojpur district in Bihar, Vashishta Singh graduated from Patna Science College and went on to receive his Ph.D. on Cycle Vector Space Theory in the United States of America. He also worked at NASA for a long time before returning to India in 1971 to teach at IIT Kanpur.
