Former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav's meal schedule has been disturbed since the results of the election, doctors at RIIMS where the RJD chief is admitted have said, voicing concern over the effect this may have on his health.
As per Dr Umesh Prasad, the HoD of Medicine at RIMS, Lalu Prasad has been skipping his lunch, eating nothing apart from his breakfast and his dinner.
"We urged him to have his food on time, so that he can be given medicine in a proper way," the doctor said.
Shedding light on how this behaviour began starting the May 23 election results, in which the RJD was dealt an astonishing defeat, Dr Umesh added, "For the past two days his routine is disturbed, may be due to election result because he is watching TV also. We urged him to take his food on time."
The doctor was also careful to clarify that there was nothing political in the matter, saying, "We only care about his health. We don't have anything to do with politics. We're not able to give him medicine as he's not having his food properly."
The RJD faced utter decimation in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, not even managing to win a single seat as the JD(U)-BJP alliance ran rampant and won 39 out of 40 seats in the state. The BJP won 17 seats, JD(U) won 16 and the LJP won 6 seats. The Congress won the lone seat from the opposite coalition. In terms of vote-share, the RJD won 15.36% of the votes, as per the Election Commission of India.
Following his convictions in multiple Fodder Scam cases, Lalu Prasad Yadav has spent a considerable part of his ongoing jail term in hospital, seeking treatment in stints in AIIMS, New Delhi, and also in Mumbai. His discharge from AIIMS after a stint there had witnessed high-drama as he had desperately attempted to tell mediapersons that he was unwell but still being discharged because there was a conspiracy against him.
