The Worli constituency

In the 2014 Assembly elections, the Shiv Sena (SS), BJP, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), as well as Congress, fought the election separately. Worli saw an engrossing battle, with a strong incumbent Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Sachin Ahir getting trounced by the SS candidate Sunil Shinde. The latter got nearly 23,000 more votes than Ahir. The BJP's Sunil Rane came third. Some months ago, NCP leader Ahir joined the SS thereby paving the way for a comfortable victory for Aaditya Thackeray.
