Man claims he was discriminated against by immigration officer at Mumbai airport for not knowing Hindi

A man who was travelling from Chennai to Mumbai has claimed that he was allegedly harassed and discriminated by an immigration officer at the Mumbai Airport for not knowing Hindi.

A man who was travelling from Chennai to Mumbai has claimed that he was allegedly harassed and discriminated by an immigration officer at the Mumbai Airport for not knowing Hindi.

Abraham Samuel, wrote on Twitter, alleging that he was denied immigration by the officer at the counter for not knowing Hindi.

Samuel said that the immigration officer after realising he did not speak Hindi discontinued his conversation with him in English and suggested to him to find Tamil immigration counter.

He added that the officer continued to be rude towards him even in front of his seniors. 

He added that he only spoke to the officer in English and not Tamil.

Here is the series of tweets by Samuel alleging the discrimination by the immigration officer. Samuel has tagged several ministers and official accounts of relevant authorities including Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj, MK Stalin, PM Narendra Modi, and official handle of the Mumbai airport.

Reports have said that the Mumbai Special Police is probing the case.
