Man Vs Wild: PM Modi enjoys 'first vacation in 18 years' as he braves the wilderness with Bear Grylls in Discovery's special

Featuring in a special episode of Discovery’s “Man Vs Wild” at 9 PM, on Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi explained to host Bear Grylls about how this was his first vacation in 18 years.

Featuring in a special episode of Discovery’s “Man Vs Wild” at 9 PM, on Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi explained to host Bear Grylls about how this was his first vacation in 18 years.

"My focus has always been development. This trip with you is my first vacation in 18 years," said PM Modi.

During the episode which was shot India's Jim Corbett National Park to create awareness about animal conservation & environmental change, PM Modi shared his personal journey into the wild as he left his home at the age of 17.

"At the age of 17, 18, I left home. And I was thinking about what to do with life. I wanted to see the spiritual world. I went to the Himalayas since I liked nature. I met people there and stayed with them. I got to learn a lot from them," said PM Modi.

Talking about his 'Swachh Bharat' mission, the Prime Minister categorically stated that people of India can make India clean. He added that while personal was a part of Indian culture, social hygiene was yet to become a habit. 

"Mahatma Gandhi has done a lot of work on it and recently we are getting good success in this. I believe India will succeed in this very soon," added PM Modi.

Earlier in the day, PM Modi had tweeted that the episode was a great opportunity to throw light on environmental conservation and climate change in the midst of Mother Nature.

According to a statement from the channel, the special episode, featuring survivalist and adventurer Bear Grylls was showcased in more than 180 countries across the world on Discovery network of channels.

“For me, this show presents a great opportunity to showcase to the world India’s rich environmental heritage and stress on the importance of environment conservation and living in harmony with nature. It was a great experience spending time in the jungle once again, this time with Bear, who is blessed with indefatible energy and quest to experience nature at its purest,” said PM Modi in a statement earlier.
