Militants have been arrested by the Jammu and Kashmir Police after a brief shootout near Noora Hospital on the outskirts of Srinagar city.

Militants have been arrested by the Jammu and Kashmir Police after a brief shootout near Noora Hospital on the outskirts of Srinagar city.

Reports suggest a car was signalled to stop by a Naka party in Narbal. The persons travelling in the vehicle fired upon the naka party. The cops retaliated, triggering a brief shootout.

Those arrested have been identified as Aqib Ahmad Dhobi son of Ghulam Mohammad Dhobi a resident of Tral, Zahid son of Abdul Rashid Rather resident of Poshwana Awantipora were arrested while as Tariq Ahmad Sheikh son of had Sheikh resident of Dangerpora Pulwama was injured in a brief shootout in Narbal area of Srinagar.

The injured one has been shifted to JVC hospital for treatment. Ammunition have been recovered from them. A case has been registered and further investigation taken up.

Meanwhile, Northern Army Commander Lt Gen Ranbir Singh reviewed the security situation in central Kashmir on Monday and commended the troops for their dedication to duty.

He was accompanied by Commander of Srinagar-based Chinar Corps, Lt Gen A K Bhatt, an army official said.

Lt Gen Singh also visited the Army's 92 Base Hospital at Badamibagh cantonment in Srinagar to enquire about the well-being of the soldiers undergoing treatment at the medical facility, the official said.

He said the Army commander wished the recuperating soldiers a speedy recovery.

It is pertinent to mention that, An officer of Jammu and Kashmir police’s Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) wing, on way to home, was shot dead by unidentified militants in southern Pulwama district on Sunday.

The officer, identified as Imtiyaz Ahmed Mir worked with the CIK department, was shot dead near Romshi Nallah in Wahibugh.

Barely a few hours later militants shot dead a worker of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Gungbugh area of Srinagar. Police identified the slain as Mohammad Amin Dar, a resident of Gungbugh. Dar received serious bullet wounds and was taken to JVC hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
