MR Venkatesh says, 'DMK's false beard fell off,' over spokesperson Saravanan's controversial statement on Kashmir

Political Analyst M.R. Venkatesh called out the DMK over their stand on Kashmir over the abrogation of Article 370, after party spokesperson A Saravanan attempted a clarification on his contentious 'Kashmir not an integral part of India' claim. 

Speaking to Republic World, Venkatesh stated that PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah 'dynamited' the plan of DMK and that the party official spokesperson's statement has laid bare the party's position on integration of Jammu and Kashmir after being caught by Republic Media Network's Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami. 

He said, "The DMK has always been bordering on secessionism and packaging it as advancing the cause is federalism, they believe India is a union of several republic and not a republic itself."

"Modi and Shah have dynamited this grand plan of the DMK, assiduously built over 6 or 7 decades. Their false beard fell off on August 12, when Mr Arnab Goswami caught Mr Saravanan the official spokesperson of DMK in making the party's position explicitly on J&K," he added. 

DMK spokesperson A Saravanan in a statement refuted to allegations against him over the J&K debate, despite claiming it on record that Kashmir was 'never an integral part of India' on Republic TV's Debate with Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami on August 12. 

In a statement issued by DMK, Saravanan has stated that he still maintains his stand that he never uttered anything 'against the integrity of the country.'

Justifying his side,  he stated that he meant to say, "Kashmir was never an integral part of India" in the context during the independence and that Kashmir was made an 'integral part only in 1956, as per the agreement with Raja Hari Singh.' 

Moreover, Saravanan maintained that he was not given the space to clarify the remarks made during the debate on Republic TV.

He further said that he 'did not run away' amid the debate, but was only 'forced' to leave after being 'targeted' by Arnab Goswami and the fellow panelists, following his statement on Kashmir.
