Mumbai: RPF returns a lost purse to woman with all its belongings

In one of the rare incidents, a Mumbai based woman was able to retrieve her lost bag and valuables with the help of RPF. The Railway Protection Force (RPF) deployed at the Dadar station in Mumbai returned a lost purse belonging to a woman on Saturday. The woman's purse had mobile phones, cash, and jewellery worth Rs 3,50,000 in it. 

The owner of the lost purse Meenal (aged 40), came from the Ratnagiri region of Maharashtra to attend the Bhai Dooj festivities with her husband. On her way back home when she boarded a train from Dadar for Ratnagiri, she realized that she had forgotten her purse near platform number 7/8 of the railway station.

SIPF Vineet Kumar Singh found the lady's purse near platform number 7 and 8 while he was patrolling on Saturday afternoon and brought the possession to the RPF Dadar office.

A little while after the purse was brought in to the RPF Dadar office, Meenal came looking for her lost purse. After taking down a detailed description of the purse's contents, SIPF Singh completed all the necessary investigations and handed over the purse with all its contents to Meenal. According to the reports, the purse contained a Nokia mobile phone, a Samsung mobile phone, cash, six pieces of gold rings, one golden necklace, 2 gold pieces of mangalsutra and a pair of golden earrings. After receiving her bag with all its belongings, Meenal thanked the Dadar RPF officer for safely returning her purse.

Other Incidents

Earlier on September 24, the Ministry of Railways revealed that the Railway Protection Force (RPF) had saved the life of a passenger at the Ahmedabad railway station. In a video of the CCTV footage posted by the Ministry on microblogging website Twitter, a young man with a backpack is seen running down the stairs and trying to board the moving 12915 Ashram Express train. 

In the process, he slips and is being dragged by the train as it gains speed. At that juncture, two RPF personnel were on patrol duty. The Ministry stated that they immediately rushed to the spot and rescued him just as he was about to fall between the platform and the train. They managed to push him inside the coach and he escaped unscathed. Citing this incident, it cautioned people to not try entering or exiting a train when it is moving.
