The Patna High Court on Tuesday rejected ex Bihar minister Manju Verma's anticipatory bail petition in connection with Muzaffarpur mass rape case. The allegations against Manju Verma's husband came to light from the family of Ravi Roshan (a Child Protection Officer in Muzaffarpur), who has been arrested in the case. Roshan's family had alleged that he was arrested for exposing the atrocities at the home and had even written to the Bihar government expressing the need for CCTV cameras there. Roshan had allegedly said that the husband of Manju Verma used to visit the NGO and was allegedly involved in the exploitation of minors. The family had sought the resignation of Manju Verma alleging that she could influence the investigation.

34 girls were raped in a shelter home run by Brajesh Thakur for which Brajesh Thakur and 12 others are in jail.

Meanwhile, now with the rejection of anticipatory bail plea, Manju Verma and her husband are left with no option but to surrender. The CBI is still conducting its investigation in the case from corruption as well as criminal angle. The CBI team has taken all the files and tender documents of the Social Welfare Department for investigation.

Recently, the CBI team digged a cremation ground and recovered skeletons on an information given by Thakur's driver. The CBI has also arrested the sanitation worker of Brajesh Thakur.
