Priyanka Gandhi Vadra made a Twitter gaffe on Saturday, wishing her Kashmiri sisters and brothers, “Nauroz Mubarak” (the Iranian new year) instead of "Navreh" (the Kashmiri Pandits’ new year). In a post praising her mother for ‘preparing a thali’ for her as she was unable to do so because of her road show, she wrote:
Navroz or Nauroz - the Iranian/Persian New Year is celebrated primarily by Zoroastrians was celebrated last month on March 21.
Meanwhile, Navreh -The New Year’s Day celebrated by the Kashmiri Pandits falls on Saturday - April 6, 2019, along with Gudi Padwa and Ugadi.
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra herself is part Kashmiri Pandit on her maternal great-grandfather Jawaharlal Nehru’s side and part Parsi from her paternal grandfather- Feroz Khan’s side.
