Grand-nephew of Subhash Chandra Bose, Chandra Kumar Bose has criticised the "scholastic achievements" of Shashi Tharoor for praising Nehru on Wednesday.

The tweet by the BJP leader further takes a dig at Nehru by saying how he "became the PM by default" and also blamed him for the partition of the country back in 1947.

On Wednesday, at the launch of his book 'Nehru: The Invention of India', Shashi Tharoor sparking another political controversy said:

"If today, we have chaiwala as prime minister, it is because Nehru ji made it possible to create the institutional structures through which any Indian can aspire to and rise to the highest office in the land."

He put forth that Nehru never turned from a popular democratic leader to an autocrat:

"A number of post-colonial heroes in other ex-colonies had gone the opposite way. They started off as democratically popular heroes and headed in an authoritarian direction...Nehru ji never fell into that trap."

A day before Jawaharlal Nehru's birth anniversary, Tharoor also alleged, "A concerted campaign of vilification, calumny and an astonishing amount of lies is being spread on the internet against Nehru."

On Nehru's birth anniversary, drawing our attention to the 'dynastic dictatorship' of the Congress Party, Chandra Kumar Bose rebutted Shashi Tharoor's remarks.

“It is very unfortunate, Mr. Tharoor is a very well read person and his scholastic achievements are praise-worthy but this kind of comment from him just to please the Nehru dynasty is uncalled for. An educated person must know where to draw the line. He is a person who can stand on his own feet, and not need Sonia Gandhi or Rahul Gandhi to support him. Today the Congress Party is crumbling because of the dynastic dictatorship the party has."

Drawing details of history that was lived by his ancestors, he said, "As far as Mr. Nehru is concerned, he was very close to my ancestors. We know the true character of Jawaharlal Nehru. He has achievements, yes, but he has also betrayed the nation, it is because of him that India was partitioned. Definitely, Muhammad Ali Jinnah played a major role but he could have saved the partition of the country. He did not allow a single soldier in the Azad Hind Fauj to be absorbed in the Indian Army. Whereas in the Pakistan Army, all the members of the Azad Hind Fauj who went in, were absorbed. And Habib u Rehman, who was Netaji's lieutenant became the General of the Pakistan Army."

Bose even claimed how he has lived the history unlike Tharoor who garnered his knowledge through books, "Mr. Tharoor is a well-read person, but I have lived history. I have not read history from textbooks but got the first-hand experience from my family. Mr. Nehru stayed in our house where we grew up. I've never met him, but I know the exact true character of Jawaharlal Nehru. We don't want to demean anyone, but let us project the true character and history of India's freedom movement."

Further critiquing Nehru's flaws during his time in history, Bose said "Look at the China war, Nehru completely messed up foreign relations with our neighbours. Today the Kashmir issue is because of Nehru. Let's not try to project a different image of Nehru in 21st century India. Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose was the liberator of India. He fought the final battle for India's freedom. No person or party can appropriate his legacy, he is a towering personality. It is Modiji who has acknowledged that Netaji was the first Prime Minister of United India, Pandit Nehru was the first Prime Minister of divided India reporting to the British crown."
