In an agonising incident in Uttar Pradesh's Noida, a newborn baby about 5- 6 days old was found in a drain. The child was rushed to the hospital and is reportedly stable.

Passersby noticed the abandoned baby boy after hearing him cry. According to the people, rats were nibbling on the baby and ended up injuring one of the fingers of his hand and one toe. The police admitted the baby to the super-specialty hospital.

The kin of the baby are yet to be located, and the reason for his abandonment has also not been disclosed yet.

Earlier in September, in another similar incident in Andhra Pradesh, a newborn was found abandoned in a narrow open drain near the Government Area Hospital at Palamaner in Chittoor district. The newborn girl was rescued by the locals.
